The Axarquía (leído «Ajarquía», ver más adelante) es una región histórica de Andalucía enclavada en la provincia de Málaga. Desde el punto de vista geográfico, la comarca, también llamada Axarquía-Costa del Sol, is in the most eastern part of the province of Malaga, Andalusia. The Axarquía extends along the coast and inland. Its coastal municipalities make up the Eastern Costa del Sol.
The historical capital and the most important city is Vélez-Málaga. The natives of the region are called axarquía.

It limits: to the north with the District of Alhama, to the east with the region Costa Tropical, to the south with the Mediterranean Sea, to the west with Malaga, and to the northwest with the regions Antequera and the Northeastern Region of Málaga (Nororma).
