The current Bishop's House was a place of worship for various civilizations, originating from a large Phoenician funerary monument. During the Roman period, it was a complex associated with the cults of the gods Apollo, Aesculapius, and Hygieia (Asklepieion). In the 16th century, Bishop García de Haro converted it into a bishop's residence.
