The natural reserve Laguna de Fuente de Piedra, framed in the region of Antequera, will host from next April the procession of the flamingos that live there temporarily, as occurs in other wetlands of the autonomous community of Andalusia.
The courtship is organized in colonies so numerous that it gives rise to "impressive" scenes, as detailed in the Junta de Andalucía, manager of the space located in the aforementioned municipality.
To court the females, the males are divided into groups of between 15 and 50 members within the colonies themselves, before beginning to mate, with the aim of preparing true collective exhibitions in which they unfold their exotic wings and become tremendously scandalous .
Thus, they stretch the neck and direct the beak upwards while turning the head from side to side; they walk together and change direction abruptly, but everything in perfect synchronization. «A perfect choreography, a carefully rehearsed dance and a luxury that occurs in a few places on the planet», explain sources of the Government of the region.
